    Tunnel looks like it’s under H3 freeway, question is where is access point? So sad State is going to have Stairway dismantled due to liability concerns. They should just charge each hiker $10 and sign a waiver of liability. Money to help maintain it. Did this hike twice back in the 80’s, what a challenge with such a rewarding view.

      Right, when I was in Texas and found out I was getting orders to Hawaii back in February that was one of the things I wanted to do was hike the stairway to Heaven, but literally when I showed up, they decided to tear it down smh. Now the legal access on the K-Bay side where that park is fenced off by the NPR. All I wanted was that breathing picture from the mountains

    Only hike where I spent the following day in my bed. Crashed and burned face first into the stream bed three times. I about fell into the stream bed about 100 times. Pulled every muscle in my body trying to recover from the slippery lousy footing. Spotted one of those cliff faced waterfalls with no inlet above it ! A view like no other. Started walking from the J. P. gate at 8:00 AM. Was back at the truck at 8:00 PM.

      Yeah i agree it was insanely hard lol !!! we started even further back, i think it took us a few hours just to get to the the JP gate, and by then we had already gone through 2 rivers and some quick sand lol. We returned late late into the darkness of night, and were wondering if we were gonna run into some wild boars too..

    Removal - 4/26/24 news story that 2.5 million $ will be spent to remove the stairs approved in 2021 (lotta steel, at 10 cents a pound scrap. Who gets the money?) due to neighbors being trespassed upon in the neighborhood to get to the stairs. Some sections of handrail need repair. Federal Land. Temptation outweighs all that walking? Thanks for giving us this video.

    Pro tip: Use gaiters to keep your pants tight to your legs, so that you do NOT slash your pants. Also allows you to use more breathable pants, as the gaiters will protect your lower legs from the snow you kick up while climbing. Experience will help you learn how to move so that you are not trying to puncture your legs with sharp things. Last joke from a fellow pilot: What's the difference between a pilot and a flight attendant? Pilots DESCEND... flight attendants GO DOWN. Please, everyone, DESCEND Mt Rainier safely! ;)

    Went Ronda last September, had no idea of the ruins, found them by accident. I can’t believe you used the metal rung ladder lol. Was amazing exploring all the ruins. There was some added excitement as there was some rescue workers doing exercises on the bridge, helicopter and a drone flying around. As yet I have not found any footage of that day. But overall, amazing day. Actually went back a second day as I spent quite some time exploring on the first day that I didn’t get to explore the other stuff in Ronda. Still a bit to do so will go back again!

    • @sgt_plague7746
      @sgt_plague7746 6 місяців тому

      @@1lifeonearth it was fantastic. Didn’t get as far as Seville. But yeh I think you’re right about it being surreal, the only thing that really let down the whole Spanish experience was the sheer amount of litter. It was quite shocking how Ronda, being the national heritage that it is, all the litter. It was heartbreaking in some ways. If you look at the main bridge on google maps, follow it east, if you crossed the second bridge heading NEE, pass what appears to be a bit of a shanty type group of buildings on the right and immediately after you can access the river that feeds to the main bridge, but, assuming water level permits, you can walk the rock bed, I was able to make it far enough that I could see the metal walkway that a nearby business uses for tours (you go down inside the rocks - I didn’t get to do that either) alas. All the more reason to go back. But even down there in the canyon, all the litter. The water is so clear it’s so… surreal! If you’re on IG, look me up, Dave_ssfr, you’ll have to follow me but I put up most pics of my Spanish adventure, took plenty at Ronda, Malaga, Gibraltar, a trail over by Granada, the El Camino Del Rey walkway. If you do come back, and you’re yet to do the Camino Del Rey walkway, don’t snub your nose at the guided tour, I booked too late and had no option, and I’m so glad that it worked out the way it did, the fund of knowledge that the tour guide gave and its available in English or Spanish.

    Nice enthusiastic narration, lovely images. I found the rain made the trails a bit treacherous here and there, but still well worth doing. Nicer in the sunlight, but rain and clouds also add to the beauty, just as it does in Glencoe (near Oban), pretty (if less dramatic than Skye), but visually most interesting in threatening weather.

    What is it with tourists that they have to come unprepared and celebrate that with these videos. People live and earn a living down in Waipio and it is no longer possible to just drive down or camp down there. Waimanu is a really long and difficult slog from Waipio and the weather is not terribly reliable. Leaving your campsite w/o telling your companions is a very bad idea. This is how people, often experienced people die. Please treat the islands with respect. Get to know locals. They are mostly terrific folks and have great stories to tell. Learn the Hawaiian names for the waterfalls and their stories.
